The Camino de Santiago attracts over 300,000 hikers annually, many of whom carry heavy loads for weeks. While renting donkeys has long been an option to ease this burden, the process is typically manual, uncoordinated, and difficult to access for modern travelers. To solve this, the project began with the goal of creating a centralized mobile platform that allows pilgrims to easily rent, manage, and drop off donkeys along the route. The application combines elements of popular platforms such as Airbnb, Uber, and Tinder, including features like GPS tracking for the donkey and real-time notifications on its status.
1. Many pilgrims walk long distances and often carry heavy belongings. 2. Renting donkeys has been a historical practice for transport but has remained informal and lacks a structured, accessible system. 3. With the rise of mobile apps and digital platforms, there was an opportunity to simplify and digitize this process.
